Hypnosis is a normal and natural state that all of us drift in and out of many times each day – similar to daydreaming or that feeling just before you drift off to sleep. Have you ever been driving, lost in thought and suddenly realized you missed your exit? Or maybe you were reading a book and someone says something to you but you don’t even hear them? Those are other examples of light hypnosis.
A hypnosis session is a guided state of concentration, heightened sense of focus, hearing everything going on around you. You are able to bypass your inner critic and change the negative inner dialogue to one that is more positive and supportive, one that can assist you in making the changes physically, mentally or emotionally that you desire.
Hypnosis is a way of communicating between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind, which stores all of our long term memory from earliest childhood to present. Many habits, beliefs, and anxieties can be traced to interpretations by the subconscious mind. This is where change occurs.
When awake, we are in the Beta brain wave frequency. This is the conscious mind from which we conduct most of our daily affairs, critical reasoning, analyzing, and discernment/judgment.
When we sleep, our brain automatically goes from Beta into Alpha – where most of our sleep, daydreaming, meditation, and hypnosis occurs – then into Theta and Delta ranges for short periods.
In Alpha, the subconscious mind is open to suggestions. It does not analyze and accepts all messages/information in the literal sense.
You decide what you want to change, and the hypnosis session will help guide you to communicate with your subconscious mind to make the changes you desire.
Note: Hypnosis is not mind control. While in hypnosis you cannot be made to do something that you wouldn’t do while fully awake and alert. If you don’t want to be hypnotized you won’t allow it, nor can you be made to do or say anything which would violate your personal standards of behavior or integrity. It is a 100% consent state. You are fully aware of what is being said to you and can respond either verbally or by signal upon request, and you can emerge from hypnosis at any time.
